In 1860, three great visionaries - Waman Prabhakar Bhave, Vasudev Balwant Phadkeand Laxman Narhar Indapurkar came together to plant a seed of an idea. The idea was profound considering the pre-independence era of India.
The three reformists resolved to establish an educational platform that would generate a strong character and lofty ideals amongst youngsters, and one that nurtures nationalism.
In 1874 The `Poona Native Institution` took shape as their joint efforts. The institution imparted conventional, contemporary education.
In today's times when education is being reduced merely to a tool for securing lucrative career opportunities and elevating one’s financial and social status, Maharashtra Education Society (MES) believes in imparting education that will lead to all-round growth of an individual, in terms of the individuals financial, social, intellectual, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects; and most importantly, as a human being.
Maharashtra Education Society has been contributing to the field of education by providing education from kindergarten to post-graduation.
Today MES comprises of 77 schools, colleges and institutions with 40,000+ students, teachers and administrative staff. MES has top schools, colleges and institutes in Pune, Saswad, Baramati, Panvel, Belapur, Kalamboli, Shirwal, KasarAmboli, Chiplun and Ahmednagar.
